Frequently asked

Do I need an account?
No. Patternwise has no account and no sign-in. You just open the app and start. Everything stays on your device.
Where is my data stored? Is it private?
Your health logs are stored in an encrypted database on your phone and are never uploaded to us. There are no ads or behavioral trackers. If you use Premium, Apple and RevenueCat process anonymous purchase history only to verify the purchase and unlock features; no health data is included. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I log something quickly?
On the Today screen, tap Symptom, Food, or Lifestyle, pick what and how intense, and save. You can also type a sentence like "bad headache after late coffee" into the quick box and confirm the entries it suggests.
How do I edit or delete an entry?
Open History (or "See all" on Today) and press and hold any entry to edit or delete it.
How do I export my data?
Settings → Export data. Choose a person, what to include, and a date range, then create a CSV (a spreadsheet of everything) or a PDF summary to keep or share with a clinician.
Can I track more than one person?
Yes. Add profiles in Settings → People, and switch between them from the avatar on the Today screen. Each person keeps their own conditions, logs, and insights, privately.
What are the "AI features"? Are they private?
Optional summaries (a recap of your logs, and a neutral doctor's-export summary) run entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence. Nothing is sent to a server. They require a device with Apple Intelligence enabled; without it, everything else in the app still works.
Does it use my location?
Only if you enable weather. It then sends a coarse, approximate area (not your exact location) to a weather service to fetch local conditions and pressure, and keeps nothing. You can leave weather off.
Does it read Apple Health?
Only with your permission, and only to read (for example) last night's sleep so you don't have to type it. Patternwise never writes to Apple Health.
Is my data backed up? What if I delete the app?
In this version, data lives only on your device — there is no cloud backup, which is what keeps it fully private. Deleting the app erases its data. To move to a new phone, export a CSV first. (Optional encrypted sync is planned for a future version.)
Does it work offline?
Yes. Everything except the optional weather lookup works with no connection.
Is Patternwise a medical app?
No. Patternwise is a wellness journal. It does not diagnose, treat, or predict any condition, and it is not a medical device. For anything health-related, talk with your doctor.
How much does it cost?
The core logging experience is free. Patternwise Premium is an optional single lifetime purchase — no subscription and no free trial. The US storefront reference price is $14.99; the App Store shows the exact price for your country before you buy.
What does Premium unlock?
Premium unlocks more than two conditions, multiple private profiles, unlimited custom factors, full insights history, PDF export, condition appearance controls, and supported on-device AI insights. Core symptom, food, and lifestyle logging, raw history, CSV export, and the recent 90 days of insights remain free.
How do I restore Premium?
Open Patternwise → Settings → Restore purchases while signed in to the same Apple Account that bought Premium. Restoring does not charge you again. If it still does not unlock, restart the app, check your connection and App Store sign-in, then email us with the Support ID shown in Settings.
What is the Support ID?
It is an anonymous RevenueCat identifier for this app installation. If you need purchase or restore help, tap it in Settings to copy it and include it in your email. It contains no health data and does not identify you personally.
How do I request a refund?
Apple processes the payment and decides refund requests. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with the Apple Account used for the purchase.
How do I report a bug or request a feature?
Email support.patternwise@gmail.com with what happened (and your iPhone model / iOS version if it's a bug). It really helps.
